I forgot to mention that I just got my first pair of reading glasses, and would love to break them in on your first manuscript. Remember, I'm only 3 hours away and a, willing to drag our Livingston up to float the Slue with you and come home with a signed copy of your book and a cooler full of Crawdads for each familly!

Brian, as I have said in the past, your writing style apeals to me- I can actually feel what you're feeling, and "see" what you're looking at. For YEARS now, I've tried to get you to publish a book of your thoughts, still am, in fact! Keep it up & damn the critics....

Well, thanks Evan. In my class they did line by line critiques and clearly didn't appreciate my style. It's clear I learned something from the class, but it was also clear the instructor didn't appreciate my writing style much! I shouldn't take criticism too personally.

That really seems strange that you would feel that way about your writing; I have always thoroughly enjoyed it!

My wife bought me a little solar panel for my cell, but it's a bad match for my cell. I dutifully shut the phone off and prop the charger up in the sunlight, at which point the phone, detecting a charger, turns on, thereby using all the energy I am trying to pack into it. It becomes quite the cycle of flashing screens set to the soundtrack of a ping announcing a charge. On with a ping, and just as quickly the screen flashes dark, just to come to life again until the charge is totally drained and the phone goes dead and silent. Within a few minutes the cycle repeats again. Gotta get a bigger charger.

Great post! And as has been mentioned, damn the critics, your writing is very enjoyable; descriptive and entertaining, with a big quotient of 'what happens next?' - what more do we need?
Also, inspiring. I'm more ready than ever to get back to work on my houseboat...Thanks!

That is a really nice waterway. I can get all the way up to the wineries before the river clogs up. You have to have a very shallow draft to get over the bar at Bear Creak.
